Filler Dissolving in Liverpool

We use an enzyme called hyaluronidase. Its job is to break hyaluronic acid down into smaller pieces that your body then clears away naturally, which removes the filler. It’s injected into the areas where the filler is sitting.

It starts working quickly, and some change is often visible within a few hours. The filler usually breaks down noticeably over the first 24 to 48 hours, with the area settling fully over the following one to two weeks. It’s normal to have some swelling at first, which can make things look worse before they look better, so we’d usually wait for that to settle before judging the final result.

You may feel a brief sting or slight burning as the enzyme goes in, usually lasting less than a minute, and we apply numbing cream first to keep you comfortable. It’s placed with a fine needle and the treatment itself is quick. Some tenderness afterwards is normal and settles fast.

It has a strong safety record when it’s carried out by a medical professional, and there’s a real reason to choose a doctor-led clinic for it: hyaluronidase is a prescription medicine that only a medical prescriber can legally hold and administer, and in the rare event of an allergic reaction, it needs to be managed medically. Only hyaluronic acid fillers can be dissolved with hyaluronidase, but that covers the large majority of modern fillers, including most lip and facial fillers. It won’t work on non-HA fillers such as Radiesse or Sculptra, or on permanent fillers, which the body handles differently or not at all. Yes. We usually recommend waiting about 1 to 2 weeks before getting new filler to let any swelling settle and the tissue return to baseline, so we can judge the new result and place it accurately. Many people actually use this as a chance to reset and go for a more conservative, natural look the second time around.

You might look a little deflated at first, especially if a larger amount is dissolved, and that’s normal. Part of this is because hyaluronidase can also break down a small amount of your own natural hyaluronic acid in the area, but your body replaces that over time, so any thinning is usually temporary.

Waiting is an option for some people, but filler doesn’t always behave predictably. It can linger far longer than expected, and it can migrate or settle unevenly, so simply waiting doesn’t always fix the problem. Dissolving gives you control: it can address migrated, lumpy, or overdone filler now, rather than living with it for months or years. That said, dissolving isn’t always the answer, and the real skill is in removing the right amount rather than stripping an area bare.
