What Is Profile Balancing?

Profile balancing is a non-surgical treatment that uses small amounts of filler in key areas to create harmony across your side profile. That might mean softening a prominent nose, strengthening a weak chin, or adjusting lip projection. At Dr Naz Clinics, we take a holistic approach. We assess your features together — not in isolation — and suggest tweaks that work in combination. The result? A subtle transformation that keeps your unique character, but feels more aligned and balanced.

It’s About Proportion, Not Perfection

Profile balancing isn’t about creating one ‘ideal’ face. It’s about using small changes to enhance your existing features.

Sometimes, the goal is symmetry. Other times, it’s strengthening the jaw or softening the nose. Dr Naz will map out your facial anatomy and explain what would bring more balance — and whether filler is the right option at all.

Tailored, Subtle, Personal

No two faces are the same — and no two profile balancing plans should be either. We’ll look at your goals, your lifestyle, and your comfort with change.

Some clients want a big impact in one appointment, others prefer a phased approach. Either way, you’re in control every step of the way.

And if you’ve had filler before, we’ll assess whether to adjust, build on, or dissolve it before creating your new plan.

Your Questions Answered

FAQS

Mostly, but improving the side view almost always improves the front too, since your features work as a set rather than in isolation. Profile balancing looks at how your chin, nose, lips, and jaw relate to one another from every angle, not just straight on. One of the most useful things a proper assessment reveals is that the feature you’re unhappy with often isn’t the one actually out of proportion. A common example is someone who dislikes their nose, when the real issue is a slightly recessed chin, and strengthening the chin can make the nose look less prominent without touching it at all. That’s exactly why Dr Naz assesses the whole profile before suggesting anything.

It varies a lot depending on your anatomy and what would bring the most balance, so there’s no fixed amount. Many people need somewhere in the region of one to three millilitres in total across the areas being treated, though it can be more or less. Dr Naz tends to work conservatively, placing a sensible amount and reviewing, rather than doing everything at once, because you can always build more later, but you can’t easily take it back. Different areas also call for different products: firmer gels to give structure to the chin or jaw, and softer ones for the lips.

Yes, and that’s the goal. Profile balancing is about proportion, not transformation, so the aim is to bring your existing features into better harmony rather than change who you are. Because the adjustments are small and spread across the areas that genuinely need them, the result tends to look like a more balanced version of you rather than a different face.

That’s completely fine and very common. At your consultation, Dr Naz will assess what’s already there, how it’s settled, and whether to build on it, adjust it, or dissolve it first for a cleaner starting point. Dissolving is done with an enzyme called hyaluronidase, which she’s able to prescribe and administer as a medical doctor, something not every injector can offer. If you’ve had work elsewhere that you weren’t happy with, that’s often exactly what brings people in, and it’s usually very workable.

Most results last somewhere between 12 and 18 months, though it depends on which areas are treated and the products used. Structural filler in areas like the chin and jaw tends to last longer than softer filler in mobile areas such as the lips, so different parts of your result may fade at slightly different rates. Results are visible straight away and settle over the following two to four weeks as any swelling eases and the filler integrates. Because it fades gradually rather than all at once, many people top up before it fully goes rather than starting again.

Most clients find it very manageable. We use numbing cream, and the fillers usually contain a local anaesthetic, so it becomes more comfortable as treatment goes on, and Dr Naz may use a fine needle or a blunt-tipped cannula depending on the area. You’re most likely to feel pressure or the sensation of the filler being placed rather than sharp pain. Because profile balancing usually involves more than one area, she’ll talk you through what each part feels like beforehand.

Yes, and the plan is tailored to your features and how you want to look rather than to any gender norm. Balance means different things for different faces, so for some that’s a softer, more harmonious profile, and for others a stronger, more defined chin and jaw. Dr Naz assesses your individual proportions and goals rather than applying a standard template.

You’re never locked in. The hyaluronic acid fillers used are reversible, so if you’re unhappy with the result or simply change your mind, it can be dissolved with hyaluronidase and, where appropriate, you can start fresh once the area has settled. This is exactly why Dr Naz works conservatively in the first place, building gradually rather than overfilling.
